Important Information About SeaGrow™

SeaGrow™ JJ80 is a fish serum product derived from aseptically drawn whole blood and plasma products from salmonids.

SeaGrow™ JJ80 does not contain any mammalian antibodies. Although the immune system of fish is similar to that of other vertebrates, fish antibodies are unlike those of mammals and do not cross-react.

SeaGrow™ JJ80 is subject to oxidation when held at refrigeration or home-freezer temperatures. Keep frozen at -70ºC. Thaw SeaGrowTM JJ80 in a 3-6ºC water bath, and if possible, thaw only the amount needed.

SeaGrow™ JJ80 has not been heat- treated, and it will gel if heated alone. To prevent gelling, add an equal amount of the defined media to SeaGrow™ JJ80 before heating to 55ºC for 30 minutes.

FOR FISH CELLS AND INSECT CELLS:

Try SeaGrow™ JJ80 at the 2.5% or 5% level if you have been using 10% or more FBS.
Heat-treatment may not be necessary for some cell lines.
Sterile filtration to 0.2 micron after combining with defined media, is recommended prior to use in culture.
